We are committed to being responsive to our property owners and continuing to provide services through other options, such as our website, telephone, U.S. Postal Service or email. April 10, 2020

Wichita Appraisal District (WAD) placed real estate appraisal notices in the mail on April 10th. The appraisal notices represent property values as of January 1, 2020 per the Texas Property Tax Code. Any impact on values from the current health crisis will be reflected in the 2021 property valuations. The district is very aware of the economic downturn related to this pandemic, however, there are no provisions in the tax code to allow for reductions in values for 2020 based on an event such as the one we are currently experiencing.

Appraisal district staff are working on site; however, property owners will not be allowed in the office for in-person meetings to be in compliance with the county wide shelter in place declarations.  We are committed to being responsive to our property owners and continuing to provide services through other options, such as our website, telephone, U.S. Postal Service or email.

Many services and forms are available on the website.  If you require assistance, please contact our office at 940-322-2435.  Due to increased call volume, we encourage the public to leave a voice mail if we are unable to answer the phone at the time of their call.  When leaving a message please leave your name, address and the matter that you are needing assistance with such as your value, exemption, or other question so that we can forward your message to the appropriate staff member.  Our staff directory can be found here.

The deadline for filing a Business Personal Property Rendition is April 15; on written request by the property owner the deadline for filing a rendition will be extended to May 15.  The written request must be sent to the appraisal district, no later than April 15.  Appraisal notices for renditions filed on or before April 15th will be mailed on April 27.

If you file a protest regarding your property, please consider holding your hearing by written affidavit or phone conference for health safety precautions.
